This run/walk event is in Mount Pleasant - we also have plogging events going on at the same time in Saginaw, Midland, and Bay City.
Join Runners Athletic Company and Altra on Earth Day, April 22nd, for a fun and impactful plogging event! Altra will be on-site with shoes to run or walk in during the event.
Plogging, a Swedish term combining "jogging" and "plocka upp" (to pick up), is a fantastic way to exercise while cleaning up our community. This eco-friendly activity started as a grassroots movement in Sweden and has since spread worldwide, becoming a popular way to promote environmental awareness and fitness.
Why Plog?
- Help the Environment: Reduce litter and make our neighborhoods cleaner and more beautiful.
- Get Active: Enjoy a run or walk while doing something good for the planet.
- Community Spirit: Connect with fellow community members who care about sustainability.
- It's for Everyone! All ages and fitness levels are welcome. Whether you're a seasoned runner or prefer a leisurely walk, you can participate.
Event Timeline:
- 5:30 PM: Check-in (get points with our RAC Rewards app), supply distribution (garbage bags, gloves), and brief safety/FAQ session.
- 5:45 PM: Plogging run/walk begins! There is no set route – form teams or go solo and explore the surrounding area, collecting as much litter as possible.
- 6:30 PM: Return to the starting point with your collected litter.
- 6:30 PM - 6:45pm: Trash weighing and results announcement.
- 6:45 PM: Join us at Mountain Town Station for post plogging refreshments!
Exciting Features:
- Store Competition: We're competing with our other three locations to see who can collect the most litter! Let's show them what Mount Pleasant can do!
- Top Collector Prize: The participant who collects the most litter will win a special prize!
- Demo Run: Try out the latest running shoes with a demo run from Altra! A demo run is a great chance to test out different running shoes. You will be able to run in the shoes during our plogging event.
- All are welcome! We want everyone to come out and participate in this great event.
Let's make a real difference this Earth Day! We look forward to seeing you there.
