Bay City: Earth Day 'Plogging" Run/Walk
This run/walk event is in Bay City - we also have plogging events going on at the same time in Saginaw, Midland, and Mount Pleasant. Join Runners Athletic Company and New Balance on Earth Day, April 22nd, for a fun and impactful plogging event! New Balance will be on-site with shoes to run or walk in during the event. Plogging, a Swedish term combining "jogging" and "plocka upp" (to pick up), is a fantastic way to exercise while cleaning up our community. This eco-friendly activity started as a grassroots movement in Sweden and has since spread worldwide, becoming a popular way to promote environmental awareness and fitness. Why Plog? Help the Environment: Reduce litter and make our neighborhoods cleaner and more beautiful. Get Active: Enjoy a run or walk while doing something good for the planet. Community Spirit: Connect with fellow community members who care about sustainability. It's for Everyone! All ages and fitness levels are welcome. Whether you're a seasoned runner or prefer a leisurely walk, you can participate. Event Timeline: 5:30 PM: Check-in (get points with our RAC Rewards app), supply distribution (garbage bags, gloves), and brief safety/FAQ session. 5:45 PM: Plogging run/walk begins! There is no set route – form teams or go solo and explore the surrounding area, collecting as much litter as possible. 6:30 PM: Return to the starting point with your collected litter. 6:30 PM - 6:45pm: Trash weighing and results announcement. 6:45 PM: Join us at Tavern 101 across the street for post plogging refreshments! Exciting Features: Store Competition: We're competing with our other three locations to see who can collect the most litter! Let's show them what Bay City can do! Top Collector Prize: The participant who collects the most litter will win a special prize! Demo Run: Try out the latest running shoes with a demo run from New Balance! A demo run is a great chance to test out different running shoes. You will be able to run in the shoes during our plogging event. All are welcome! We want everyone to come out and participate in this great event. Let's make a real difference this Earth Day! We look forward to seeing you there.
