    Connecteam Usage Policy & Employee Agreement

    1. Purpose and Scope

    To ensure streamlined communication, consistent training, and efficient scheduling, Runners Athletic Company utilizes the Connecteam app as our primary "Employee Hub." This platform is the official channel for:

    • Work schedules, shift attachments, and assigned tasks.
    • Recording hours worked via the Time Clock (primary use via in-store kiosk; mobile app use may be permitted for off-site events and activities).
    • Company-wide announcements, updates, and internal team communication via the Chat function.
    • Training modules and professional development.
    • Accessing the Employee Handbook and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Recognition, rewards, and internal team communication.

    2. Mandatory Requirement

    Consistent use of the Connecteam app is a requirement of employment with Runners Athletic Company. To ensure all staff have access to necessary information, employees are expected to:

    • Download and maintain the app on a compatible smartphone or device OR utilize the provided in-store computer stations at the start of and throughout every shift.
    • Keep notifications enabled for the app during their scheduled workweek (for those using the mobile app).
    • Check the platform at the beginning of and throughout their shift, while clocked in, for any updates, schedule changes, or new tasks.

    3. Pay Compliance & After-Hours Expectations

    Runners Athletic Company complies with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the Michigan Improved Workforce Opportunity Wage Act.

    • Non-Exempt (Hourly) Employees: You are strictly prohibited from performing work on the app (e.g., completing training, reading long policy updates, or responding to threads) while off-the-clock.
    • Compensable Time: Any required activity on the app that takes more than a few moments (de minimis) must be performed while clocked in. You are not required or expected to review any materials, training, or communications within the app while off-the-clock or during unpaid breaks.
    • Scheduling & Emergency Exceptions: The following activities are considered personal administrative tasks or safety updates and may be performed off-the-clock at your convenience:
      • Submitting availability or requesting time off.
      • Viewing your published work schedule.
      • Communicating with coworkers regarding shift swaps/replacements.
      • Checking for emergency communications, such as weather-related store closures or delayed openings. 
    • No Retaliation: No employee will be disciplined for failing to respond to non-emergency communications while off-duty.

    4. Device Access and Availability (Michigan Compliance)

    To ensure all employees have full access to company resources without personal expense, Runners Athletic Company provides the following options:

    • In-Store Access: A dedicated computer is available at each store location for employee use. Staff are expected to use these stations at the beginning and throughout their shifts to check for updates, schedules, and training requirements.
    • Optional Mobile Use: While the use of a personal smartphone for the Connecteam app is highly encouraged for your convenience and real-time scheduling updates, it is not a requirement to use your personal data or device if you prefer to use the provided in-store computer.
    • Cost-Free Method of Access: Because Runners Athletic Company provides a cost-free method of access via in-store hardware, the company does not provide a monthly stipend or reimbursement for personal cell phone plans or data usage.

    5. Privacy and Michigan Internet Privacy Protection Act (IPPA)

    In accordance with Michigan’s Internet Privacy Protection Act (MCL 37.271 et seq.):

    • Access Information: Runners Athletic Company will never request access to, or passwords for, your personal social media accounts, personal email, or other private internet-based accounts.
    • Data Access: The company cannot access your personal photos, private texts, or non-work related data. Connecteam is a "bounded system" used solely for work.
    • Personnel Records: Per the Michigan Bullard-Plawecki Employee Right to Know Act, any disciplinary actions or formal performance reviews conducted or stored within the app are considered part of your official personnel record and may be reviewed by you upon written request.

    6. Digital Acknowledgment

    By clicking "I Agree" or by continuing to use the Connecteam platform, you acknowledge that you have received, read, and understood these Terms & Conditions. You agree to comply with this policy as a condition of your employment with Runners Athletic Company.
